Geese

Stupid me.

I went out to feed the geese and although I had my camera with me, I didn't have it turned on when the action started.

One papa goose was upset with another papa goose, and the two of them got into a neck twisting brawl. By the time I got the camera turned on they had taken it into the water and were swimming away, leaving me with nothing but a picture of their wake.

Here's a family behaving like a goose family.

Britney, are you ready for your close-up?

I've often mentioned the squirrels that I feed, but I'm not sure if I've ever talked about the cardinals. There is a pair of cardinals, Louie and Louise, that have been coming around regularly for the peanuts.

Louie will often swoop in, grab a peanut, break it up with his beak, and then give the pieces to Louise. He's an ideal husband, I guess.

Here's a recent photo of Louie.

Last year I recall seeing one family of Canadian geese along the Wissahickon Creek. Just now, I saw at least three and was able to snap a few photos.

Not all the geese were happy to see me. Here's one giving me a piece of its mind.

Just bought a new camera, so expect some more photos shortly.

Here's a duck I saw today while walking along the Wissahickon Creek.
